Kapasa Makasa University and Guangdong Ocean University launched a Chinese language learning program on March 5, 2025 to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties between China and Zambia. The program aims to enhance communication and collaboration, particularly in the fisheries sector, where both universities are already working together on projects like the National Tilapia Breeding and Production Centre.

During the opening ceremony, Prof. Chen Jinjun of Guangdong Ocean University emphasized the importance of the language program in fostering mutual understanding, while the Executive Dean of Kapasa Makasa University expressed gratitude for the collaboration. The program consists of 26 interactive sessions per cohort, combining language skills and cultural knowledge, designed to prepare students for professional and personal engagement with Chinese counterparts.

Students expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, seeing it as a bridge to new opportunities and a way to deepen the bond between Zambia and China. The ceremony marked the start of a new chapter in KMU-GDOU relations, with the students eager to contribute to a future of enhanced communication and collaboration.
